WUDLA Recs
We are always asked for vet recommendations, dog walker recommendations, dog tainer recommendations, etc., so we thought it would be handy to create this quick little "WUDLA Recs" post to help guide you to choosing some fabulous services for you and your beloved pup(s).
Please note, we will grow this list as we discover more people and places and services we love.
Our Top Vet Recs:
The Village Vet
We absolutely adore the folks at The Village Vet in Silver Lake. I know Silver Lake is not the most convenient location for many of us; however, I promise you will not regret sitting in traffic to visit the staff at The Village Vet. They are a super friendly, well-informed, honest, and generous veterinary group and we are so happy our friends at Angel City Pit Bulls (http://www.angelcitypits.org/) referred us to them.
Dr. Shipp's Animal Hospital @ The Amanda Foundation
Dr. Shipp's not only provides excellent medical care, but also gives back to the rescue community. They are the only full service veterinary office in Los Angeles run by a non-profit animal charity – The Amanda Foundation. The money you spend on your beloved animal companion(s) at Dr. Shipp's is used to help save the lives of less fortunate dogs and cats throughout Los Angeles.

Our Top Daycare / Boarding Recs:
Please be very careful when selecting a doggie daycare or dog boarding facility. There are a ton of places popping up throughout Los Angeles and the majority of these facilities are neither equipped nor experienced to deal with the majority of dogs they have in their care. The lack of training, common sense, and secure faclities lead to negligence which can potentially result in your dog's death.
Don't be afraid to ask the tough questions — this is your responsibility as a doggie parent to do the homework! Has a dog every escaped your facility? Have dogs ever gotten in fights here? If yes, how do you deal with that? What is the ratio of staff to dogs at your facility? how many dogs to you house on a typical day? Etc…
We already know of two confirmed dog deaths within the last month due to negligence at two different daycare faclities on the Westside. Do not be afraid to check the facilities surroundings and make sure they are secure. Dogs should not be able to jump the fences — any fences separating dogs should be at least 8 ft. All fences should be reinforced and there should be no windows or doors accessible to the dogs. While "cage free" facilities are very popular right now, it is important that the faclity have crates/private rooms where the dogs can take "time outs" and have some downtime.
Dogs should also be crated and fed in private areas if they are boarding overnight.
